 Burnett Salvage has several gauges of plate steel available for multiple uses:
- 20-gauge (good for body work on cars and other vehicles)
- Tread plate 1/8 to ½-inch (excellent for floors of trailers, truck beds and similar uses)
- 14-gauge to 11-gauge (often used on smokers and grills)

| Salvage buying tips |
Here is the first installment of suggestions that will help make your salvage yard buying experience easier – no matter what you’re buying
- Be ready to browse
- Bring straps or rope to tie down loads
- Know your measurements for steel, doors and windows
- If looking for a commode tank lid, record the number and make off of old one; if no numbers are available bring along the broken tank lid - or trace an outline of old lid.
- If laying brick for a walkway figure 4.5 brick per square feet.
